Connetquot posts districtwide safety plan and revised code of conduct for 30‑day public comment

At its July 20 meeting the Connetquot Central School District Board of Education opened 30‑day public‑comment windows for the proposed 2026–27 districtwide safety plan and for revisions to the district’s code of conduct.

Dennis Walsh, who identified himself as the district’s security consultant, described the safety plan as a public document (separate from confidential building‑level plans) and said it is posted on the CCSD website for review. Walsh said the districtwide plan is a living document that will continue to evolve and invited the public to submit comments to safetyplan2627@ccsdli.org during the 30‑day comment period.

Administration then reviewed changes to the annual code of conduct, which the policy committee had met to update twice this spring. The committee added a table of contents, included DASA coordinators among student supports, clarified expected student conduct (including walking at graduation), added a reference to virtual private networks (VPNs) and added a prohibition on improper use of artificial intelligence. The code of conduct draft is posted on the district website under the code‑of‑conduct link; board members requested it be highlighted so community members would know how to comment. Comments should be sent to codeofconduct2026-27@ccsdli.org.

Both items will return to the board for consideration after the 30‑day comment window. Administration said building‑level emergency plans that contain sensitive security details remain confidential and are not posted publicly.
