Chester environmental group warns Upper Darby EAC about Eddystone LNG plans and confidentiality of discussions

Sarafia, speaking on behalf of Circle, a Chester-based environmental justice organization, briefed the Upper Darby Environmental Advisory Committee on efforts to oppose proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facilities targeting sites along the Delaware River.
"LNG is highly flammable, highly volatile explosive," Sarafia said, describing the public-health and pollution risks and noting that right-to-know documents appear to show confidential communications and nondisclosure agreements involving a company now identified as Eddystone Energy LLC (formerly Panamerica LNG) and various public officials and agencies. She said several neighboring municipalities have passed 'no LNG' resolutions and offered a model resolution for Upper Darby to consider.
Committee members asked Sarafia to share Right-to-Know records and resources; EAC members and public commenters suggested contacting the Delaware Riverkeeper Network and the Sierra Club webinar series for more information. No township action or formal resolution was taken during the meeting; members agreed to review the materials and consider countywide coordination on the issue.
Sarafia urged public awareness and cross-municipal coordination, noting that communities along the river are already heavily burdened by pollution and that any LNG terminal would exacerbate environmental justice concerns across Delaware County.
