Owensville schedules Sept. 22 public hearing on one‑year expiration for variances and conditional use permits

The Owensville Board of Aldermen on Sept. 2 agreed to schedule a public hearing for Sept. 22, 2025, on a proposed zoning-code change that would add a one-year expiration for both variances and conditional use permits.
The City Engineer said the Planning & Zoning Commission recommended the one-year expiration. Mayor Kevin McFadden said the measure is intended to "show the applicant is serious and ready to move forward with the application knowing there is an expiration date before the request." The change will be considered at the public hearing and is not yet adopted.
The board encouraged interested parties to attend the Sept. 22 hearing; no ordinance or effective date was adopted at the Sept. 2 meeting.
