The Nelson Select Board approved a $1,500 purchase request from the Cemetery Board for section designation markers for the new cemetery and accepted a bid from Pathways Landscaping for 2026 cemetery mowing and maintenance for $11,340. Selectman Michael Blaudschun moved both motions and Chair Brenna Kucinski seconded; each motion carried 3-0.
L. Smith, speaking for the Cemetery Board, reported the board had received arborist advice that the property’s maple trees need an application of lime. One vendor estimate for a pallet of bagged lime crystals is $800, and payment would be required in advance; Smith asked the Board to seek further estimates and to check with local purchasers M. Tarr and N. Barrett who sometimes buy lime in bulk. The Cemetery Board noted that spreaders will be needed for application and that the Highway Department could arrange pickup if required.
The mowing and maintenance contract from Pathways Landscaping was approved with a modest increase from the prior year. The Board did not record any conditions or amendments to the contract during the meeting.
These actions finalize the immediate materials and maintenance contract needs for the new cemetery; trustees will return to the Board if additional funding or approvals are required following the additional cost estimates for lime treatment.
