District recognizes state-winning FFA team and accepts $1,000 donation to support elementary Chromebook users

Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools recognized Northeastern High School FFA's state Envirothon win and accepted a $1,000 donation from J.W. Hood Consistory No. 155 to buy headphones or other needs for elementary students using Chromebooks.
The board recognized students from Northeastern High School's FFA program for winning the North Carolina Envirothon state competition and announced they will compete at the national contest in Indianapolis in October.
Mr. Manzer introduced the students and described their multi-year effort and community support. "They went out and recruited Imogen and Lucy ... and they have worked their butts off putting in countless hours," he said as the team was introduced and invited forward for photographs.
District staff also acknowledged a $1,000 donation from the J.W. Hood Consistory No. 155 to support elementary students who will be using Chromebooks for the first time in second grade. Dr. Denabo Robinson explained the consistory's history in Elizabeth City and said the lodge wanted to contribute more than the customary back-to-school book bags. "It's our pleasure and our honor as J.W. Hood Consistory Number 155 to make a donation of $1,000 to elementary school kids for their headphones or other needs," Dr. Robinson said.
The board thanked the donors and staff for their work, and district leaders encouraged community members to visit programs such as the Northeastern FFA and P.W. Moore to see ongoing work.
