Mayor Catherine Payne opened a short Hillsborough Township meeting and presided as Sarah Brake took the oath of office as township clerk and the mayor issued a proclamation recognizing a local Fulbright award recipient.
Sarah Brake, who was sworn in as township clerk, said: "I, Sarah Brake, do solemnly swear that I will support constitution of The United States and the constitution of the state of New Jersey, and that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same and to the governments established in The United States and in this state under the authority of the people, so help me God, I do further solemnly swear that I will impartially and justly perform all the duties of the office of township clerk according to the best of my ability, so help me god." The oath affirms her commitment to uphold both constitutions and to perform the clerk's duties impartially.
Mayor Catherine Payne read a proclamation and "do hereby recognize and extend our sincere congratulations to Morgan Hataronsky for being awarded a Fulbright scholarship, an honor for both her and for those who have guided her." Payne extended the township's best wishes for Hataronsky's future endeavors.
