Library director reports strong program turnout and $134,487 in patron savings for 2025

At the Jan. 26, 2026 meeting of the Stephenson Memorial Library Board of Trustees, Director Ella Cademartori summarized programming successes and detailed monthly and year-end usage statistics. She reported that patrons saved a total of $134,487.56 in 2025, $8,597.22 more than in 2024, and that this equates to about $73.37 saved per taxpayer based on a population figure of 1,716 from the 2020 census.
Cademartori highlighted recent events: Morphs and Milestones drew about 40 attendees, Meet the Chiefs Night attracted 14 people, and the "Here in New England with Mel Allen" program had roughly 20 attendees (including two who traveled from Connecticut). She listed upcoming in-person events including Take Your Child to the Library Day with author Astrid Sheckels (Feb. 7), Puzzle Palooza (Feb. 7), Cardinals and Coneflowers (Feb. 28) and multiple spring and summer programs including a UNH Master Gardener seed-saving program (May 30) and a July 4 celebration.
The Director noted that a test-run childcare arrangement will be tried at Puzzle Palooza in partnership with the Barbara Harris Center, and that the Driving to Zero campaign event with NH DOT has been postponed. Cademartori also provided monthly breakdowns for reference and tech assistance, wireless use, public-computer use, program attendance, circulations, and interlibrary-loan activity that make up the year-end totals.
Trustees recorded the Director's report and voted to accept it by roll call.
