LAAC approves minutes and landscape-architect certificates; staff seek NAICS disclaimer posting

The Mississippi Landscape Architecture Advisory Committee approved the minutes from its October 2025 meeting and approved landscape architect certificates issued since that meeting during its Jan. 21 session in Ridgeland.
A motion by Jon Milstead to approve the October 2025 minutes, seconded by Warren (Cory) Gallo, passed unanimously. A second motion by Jon Milstead, seconded by Robert Mercier, approved the certificates issued since October 2025; the minutes record the motion passed unanimously.
The minutes include a table of certificates submitted for approval. Examples listed in the packet include Georgia Gale DeWitt (license issued 10/8/2025 by exam), Martin L. Smith (license issued 12/8/2025 by reciprocity) and Kristen Lyter Spears (license issued 10/8/2025 by reciprocity). The committee approved the certificates as presented.
John Cothron, Executive Director, reported an update on licensing: proposed disclaimer language regarding use of certain North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes had been submitted to the Secretary of State’s office with a request that those disclaimers be posted on the Secretary of State’s website. Mr. Cothron also reviewed pending legislation that could affect the State Board of Architecture and the LAAC and noted the committee reviewed the Interorganizational Council on Regulation (ICOR) Practice Overlap Guidance and may submit questions or comments to ICOR.
No vote counts beyond “passed unanimously” are recorded in the minutes. The committee affirmed April 8, 2026 as the next meeting date and adjourned at 2:18 p.m.
