Kellnersville reviews insurance endorsement changes, road funding and community events

At the Feb. 9 meeting the Village of Kellnersville reviewed an insurance endorsement change, discussed county road work funding and local improvement programs, and considered several community announcements.
The board reviewed correspondence from MPIC Insurance describing an endorsement change to coverage for properties acquired by tax lien. Beginning with the July 1, 2026 policy renewal, recovery on those properties will be limited to the lesser of the cost to repair or replace the property, the total taxes/fees/penalties/interest due, or the actual cash value, replacing a previous limit tied to actual cash value alone.
Board members also discussed the Highway T surface milling and repaving work scheduled for 2027 at an estimated cost of $41,500. The village reported $30,138.91 currently available and a $10,000 budgeted for 2026. The culvert under CTH T has been entered into WisDOT's Highway Structures Information System and qualifies for the local small structure inventory and inspection program; county staff (Gary Mueller) will complete inventory and inspection. Ruekert Mielke's Kevin Wagner will work on petitioning the county for a 50/50 match and pursue a local small structures improvement program (LSSIP) that could fund up to 90% of repair/replacement costs.
Other community items: the board noted the 15" Solar SD speed sign has been purchased and delivered and is awaiting installation; an electronics recycling event with AJ Recycling was rescheduled for June 6, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the village park parking lot; and Clerk Heather Dachelet will serve as the village representative to the Village Association for intermunicipal meetings. The board also recorded Open Book on April 27, 2026 and Board of Review on May 11, 2026 as upcoming events.
