Committee hears staffing, payroll and procedural updates; approves minutes

Staff reported missed longevity-pay obligations under the union contract affecting two employees (back payments since 2021) and one employee who has not had longevity pay at all; staff estimated about $2,400 in owed longevity pay and said wages will be corrected in the upcoming pay cycle. Staff also said they have built a spreadsheet to reconcile fuel receipts that had not been updated since May of last year and shared it with Stephanie for invoice reconciliation.
On workforce development, staff described a new high-school workforce-based learning program: a student has been shadowing as a volunteer and staff plan to bring a temporary seasonal hire proposal to finance and council to employ the student through the end of the school year, with workers’ compensation coverage addressed. Staff noted an open position has been posted on the website and Facebook with five applications received so far.
The committee set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 5:00 p.m. and closed the public portion of the meeting.
