Pinetops advisory board approves minutes; Board of Commissioners reappoints two members and backs proposed downtown boundaries

Vice‑Chair Hattie Harris moved to approve the Sept. 25 minutes; JoAnn Smith seconded, and the board voted unanimously to adopt them. Secretary Stacey L. Staton recorded the roll: members Suzanne Coker Craig (chair), Hattie Harris (vice‑chair), Stacey L. Staton (secretary), Ron Pate, Jennifer Brown and JoAnn Smith were present; Kyle Cecchi and Patrick Pender were listed as absent.
During strategic‑team updates, board member Kyle Cecchi — speaking by email — said he attended the October meeting of the Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners and presented proposed downtown boundaries for Pinetops. Cecchi asked for a brief update at the advisory board meeting and noted work on a downtown inventory is continuing manually because, he wrote, the county GIS team would not be able to assist: "I attended the October Board of Commissioners meeting and proposed the downtown boundaries … I recall Bruce mentioning the GIS team would not be able to help me with compiling data for our downtown inventory. I have continued that manually, but will take some time." The advisory board did not take a formal vote on the inventory work at this meeting.
Mayor Brenda Harrell reported that the Board of Commissioners voted to reappoint Kyle Cecchi and Ron Pate to the advisory board and voted in favor of the downtown boundaries submitted by the advisory board. The meeting record does not include motion language, vote tallies, or meeting minutes from the Board of Commissioners beyond Mayor Harrell’s confirmation.
Other business included confirmation that an advisory board training with Bruce Naegelen of the North Carolina Department of Commerce is scheduled to follow immediately after adjournment. Chair Suzanne Coker Craig said the regular November meeting (which would fall the week before Thanksgiving) would be rescheduled; the board also agreed to cancel the December meeting because it would fall on the Christmas holiday.
