G. Harrington called the Winter Harbor Selectmen meeting to order on Aug. 25, 2025, and the board approved selling the town’s ladder truck to a restorationist for $5,000.
The Fire Chief/Road Commissioner reported that the offer was the first the department had received and that the department’s members voted to turn over money raised during the recent lobster festival to the town to be used toward buying a new fire truck. The board recorded the approval of the ladder-truck sale in the minutes.
Town minutes do not name the buyer or record a roll-call of which selectmen voted; the entry states only that the board approved the sale. The minutes indicate the $5,000 sale price will be applied to acquisition of a replacement apparatus.
No timeline for the purchase of a replacement vehicle was provided at the meeting. The minutes do not list any conditions on the sale nor indicate whether surplus equipment procedures or state disposal rules were consulted.
The meeting moved on to other business after the discussion; the regular meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m. and the board later convened a brief executive session on personnel matters.
