Board votes to put two property-sale questions on November ballot

The Concord School District board on March 30 approved two separate motions directing the administration to schedule and post all required meetings and notices necessary to place property-sale questions on the November 2026 ballot.
First, the board unanimously directed administration to prepare a ballot question regarding the sale of district-owned property at 38 Liberty Street. Later, after discussion about unused acreage at the Bridal Ground site, the board approved placing a question about the sale of district property at 11 Curtisville Road; the second vote passed with one recorded abstention for conflict of interest.
Board members framed the measures as a way to seek voter input before committing to administrative moves such as relocating offices or selling surplus land. “It just makes sense to know what the citizens want us to do with it,” a board member said when supporting the motions.
Because the district charter requires voter approval to sell certain properties (land greater than one acre or otherwise governed by charter provisions), the board said the ballot route was the appropriate procedural step. The board asked staff to prepare the necessary public notices and to bring timelines back to the board for review.
Next steps: administration will schedule required public hearings and prepare ballot language and logistics for November 2026.
