Ajay told the Mount Summit Town Board on March 10 that he has submitted an official letter notifying the board he is no longer eligible to serve because he moved out of the town27s limits and that the end of the month will be his final meeting.
Why it matters: A seat vacancy on the town board will require a replacement process or appointment, and members said they will discuss options privately and follow up at a future meeting.
Ajay said, “I have an official letter as well. But basically, I'm no longer eligible to be on the town board because I have moved out of city limits. So at the end of this month, I'll will be the the last of my duties as far as being on the town board.”
Board members thanked him for his service and Ajay said he and at least one other person have ideas about a successor and will follow up: “I have a couple of ideas. Well, Jenny does. I'll talk to the board soon.”
Next steps: The transcript records the announcement and expressions of thanks; the board did not record a formal appointment or timetable for filling the seat during this meeting.
