During discussion trustees asked why only two vendors were presented, how the district will measure changes in reading levels, and how prior curriculum performance was evaluated. Staff said teacher review, vendor presentations and rubric scoring guided the choice and emphasized training for teachers and building leaders.
A trustee called the existing reading performance data concerning: staff acknowledged multiple contributing factors to reading outcomes, including curriculum currency, teacher practice and student attendance, and said adoption and training are intended to support intervention efforts.
The motion to adopt passed by a 4–1 roll call. Trustees directed staff to provide follow‑up reporting on implementation and student progress.
