The Sanbornton Conservation Commission approved the June 11, 2026 minutes by a 6-0-1 vote at its July 9 meeting; Ray Masse abstained.
Chair Dave Perry moved to accept the minutes as amended and Vice Chair Bob Silvia seconded the motion; the tally was recorded as 6 yes, 0 no, 1 abstention. The commission logged that Brian LaRoche was excused.
Beyond the minutes, members addressed several operational items. Perry raised the need to brush-hog a field in the town forest before growth becomes too mature and members provided contacts for Brad Crosby to follow up. The commission revisited plans for Old Home Day and confirmed that Chris Fontenot, Bob Silvia and Paul Stevens will attend on behalf of the SCC. Perry reported on the conservation fund, forest maintenance fund and land-use-change tax fund and said further financial information will be gathered for future discussion.
Perry also flagged an abundance of ticks on town trails and suggested installing warning signs to protect hikers. Paul Stevens volunteered to file annual reports for the town’s conservation areas, including the Swain property behind the library and the Meader property on Burleigh Hill Road, with Chris Fontenot as backup and Brandon Deacon assisting on the Meader property. The meeting adjourned at 8:57 p.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 13, 2026.
