Selectmen approve police building design fee, asbestos and septic contracts and other measures

The Sandwich Selectmen on April 6 approved multiple contracts and administrative measures tied to the ongoing police building project and routine town business.
The board voted unanimously to pay a $320 line design fee and to initiate an NH Electric Coop work order for the police building project. Members then approved a $6,250 asbestos-removal contract with Accurate Environmental and authorized Chair Joanne Haight to sign that contract as a single signer. The board also authorized Haight to sign the septic installation contract for the project; Town staff said contractor discussions continue and the Town is finalizing cost-saving decisions.
Separately, the board approved a proposal to install security monitoring at Durgin Bridge and authorized Haights signing of that proposal. The meeting record shows the board signed accounts payable and payroll manifests and approved a private road waiver. Selectmen also approved a temporary authorization for Steve Toomey and Bryan Peaslee to act as agents for the Town in reviewing building permits while the Compliance Officer is absent.
Ms. Delaney said she is preparing the bond application for the police building and reported a 2025 equalization ratio of 87.3%. The State Department of Environmental Services notified the Town that it found no wetlands impact at the property under review, according to Ms. Delaney. The board approved minutes from March 3, March 9 and March 24 as amended and adjourned at 7:06 PM.
