Resident urges Kewaunee to promote available properties for Green Bay NFL draft overflow

During the public-comment period of the Aug. 9 Kewaunee Common Council meeting, a resident who identified himself as Dale urged the city to work with local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce to publicize available properties ahead of next year’s Green Bay NFL draft.
“I feel it would be a prime time for the city of Kewaunee itself to present and bring forward the properties…,” the resident said, citing sites including a property north of Highway 42 near Tractor Supply, the waterfront (the Hammerchek property), and the long-vacant Marquette School building. He recommended producing a brochure or similar materials that hotels and motels could offer to visitors and suggested that publicity during the event could encourage business expansion or sales.
Dale also cited recent media coverage of Kewaunee and recounted seeing the community featured on regional television, saying the exposure illustrated the city’s appeal to tourists and prospective investors. The Chair thanked him for the comments and closed public comment after no other speakers came forward.
No formal council action on promotion or marketing was taken at the meeting; the remarks were recorded as public comment and council did not schedule a follow-up agenda item during the session.
