Board receives midyear budget update; approves teacher supplements and state budget amendment

Finance staff presented a midyear budget update across program report codes and funds, telling the board most state PRCs are near the expected ~50% spend mark for midyear while flagging several items that need monitoring.
The staff noted PRC009 (retirement payouts) appears high (72.28%) but explained the Department of Public Instruction treats that line as a guaranteed allotment. Capital spending is concentrated and sits around 69% of the capital budget, the transportation fund has set-aside purchase orders, and several restricted funds had not spent yet because state allotments arrived recently.
On motions from the finance report, the board approved a PRC71 teacher supplement scale to be paid in February: $2,450 for teachers in years 0–5, $3,000 for years 6–10, $3,350 for years 11–14 and $3,500 for teachers with 15+ years of service. Finance staff said the amounts will appear as a separate item on the pay stub.
The board also approved state budget amendment No. 9, which the presenter said recognizes these new allotments: SRO grant funds of $134,250; Read2Achieve teacher bonuses $6,870 (PRC46); teacher bonuses $21,743 (PRC48); CTE credentialing and summer camp funds $23,853; a $5,000 feminine-hygiene grant; and special state reserve funding for children with disabilities of $64,506.
Superintendent Doctor Johnson earlier reported enrollment changes in the district: a net loss of 25 students for a total enrollment of 1,116 as of Jan. 20. The board carried the budget amendment and supplement approvals by motion.
