Council approves boat-damage reimbursement, accepts Lions Club donation and authorizes marina committee formation

Reimbursement for rescue-related boat damage: Staff reported police had requested assistance on June 23 to rescue a person in distress near the harbor; Terry Klosterman used his boat to assist and sustained damage. Staff and the city attorney reviewed repair invoices and recommended reimbursing Klosterman a total of $2,699.27 to cover repair costs and hauling expenses. The council moved and approved the reimbursement by roll call.
Dog cleanup station donation: The Kewaunee Lions Club offered to donate and install a dog cleanup station at Selmer Park (beach area) including signage, waste baskets and bag dispensers. Staff recommended acceptance and the council approved the donation, noting it could be a demonstration for similar stations in other parks.
Kewaunee Marina Committee authorization: Staff presented a proposal from the Public Property Committee to form a city-sponsored Kewaunee Marina Committee to improve community participation in marina strategic planning, marketing, fundraising and operations. Council authorized staff to develop the committee framework and later present membership appointments for ratification.
These items passed without extended debate; staff will proceed with reimbursement processing, coordinate with the Lions Club on installation logistics, and prepare parameters and an outreach plan for the marina committee.
