The council on July 14 approved ordinance file 260705 rezoning 1010 South 16th Avenue from single-family residential to a planned unit development (PUD) to allow an expansion for Brass Properties LLC.
Alder Killian said he would not support the rezoning, citing prior public opposition recorded at the Planning Commission; other alderpersons noted the packet indicated neighborhood concerns but also described site design elements such as downward-directed lighting and a mixed-use component. After brief discussion the motion passed 9–2.
Councilors asked planning staff to ensure lighting and pedestrian impacts are mitigated as the project proceeds through final approvals.
