Miss Altman, the finance presenter, outlined four finance items and the board approved each by voice vote.
Altman said FY25 state public school funds budget amendment number 6 records additional state allotments that add $32,983 to the state budget: $11,493 in school-connectivity funds and $21,513 in literacy-intervention funds for K–3 reading supports. "So this amendment is adding $32,983 to our state budget," she said.
The board next approved FY25 budget amendment number 7 to the local current expense fund, an amendment that moves revenue and expenditure amounts to appropriate fund balance to cover a catch-up contribution to the retirement system. Altman said the amendment adds $131,442 to the local current expense budget for fiscal year 2025.
On the Child Nutrition Fund, Altman recommended an adjustment after reviewing monthly USDA reimbursement receipts. She said the Child Nutrition appropriation was reduced by $373,182 to better match anticipated revenues and expenditures; after the change the total appropriation for Child Nutrition is $1,156,818. "We are reducing that budget by $373,182," she said.
Board members asked clarifying questions about how literacy-intervention funds would be used; Altman said they support software and products for K–3 reading interventions. Each amendment was approved following motions and seconds; the board approved the draft FY26 budget calendar as presented and discussed scheduling of special budget work sessions to coordinate with county commissioners.
The board did not attach conditions to the amendments and directed staff to continue the normal budget process; dates on the presented calendar may be adjusted if needed and staff will bring changes back in January if requested.
