One commissioner estimated the concrete floor alone could cost $70,000–$80,000 and said the full installed cost of a comparable building could be $400,000–$500,000 once engineering, power and HVAC needs were included. The board discussed selling the structure 'as is' to a metal-building erector or using CARES/ COVID-related funds to buy a smaller building with fewer inspection constraints.
Mayor Dale Sowers recounted the town-hall purchase, saying the board bought the property for $190,000 after it was listed at about $220,000 and noted the town has one payment remaining on that purchase. Commissioners asked staff to seek interested buyers and to return with price estimates; no decision to sell was taken at the meeting.
