Doctor Schleicher described the schematic as a roughly 13,000‑square‑foot multipurpose facility that would consolidate and expand CTE programs currently housed in mobile trailers. "About 13,000 square foot facility asking for around $7,000,000 in funding," he said, adding the district would set a $6 million bottom if reviewers recommend a lower award but that current construction and infrastructure costs push estimates into the $6–7 million range.
The proposal would create shared space for the district and the community college partner and is presented as a workforce‑development asset for the county. Board members moved, seconded and approved a motion to submit the application; the motion carried 7–0.
Staff said the application follows a prior strong argument submitted last year and that the district is returning to the funder with an improved application this cycle. No final funding decision was announced; the vote authorized staff to proceed with the application submission.
