Selectmen approve tax exemptions, paving RFP and several contracts; police building construction agreement approved subject to counsel review

At the May 4 regular meeting, the Sandwich Board of Selectmen unanimously approved an RSA 72:37-a property tax exemption for Map 219 Lot 6, veterans’ tax credits, exemptions for solar and wood heating systems, an adjusted paving RFP for Maple Ridge Road, and multiple contracts and administrative forms; the Board authorized Ms. Haight to sign a police building construction agreement with New Age Homes LLC subject to insurance and legal review.
The Sandwich Board of Selectmen approved a series of routine but consequential administrative actions at its May 4 regular meeting.
Ms. Cox presented an exemption application under RSA 72:37-a for Map 219 Lot 6; Ms. Haight moved to approve and Mr. Heard seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Board also approved a slate of veterans’ property tax credit applications and approved property tax exemptions for solar and wood heating systems after motions by Ms. Haight and Mr. Heard.
Courtney Delaney presented a draft Request for Proposals for 2026 paving of Maple Ridge Road and explained the proposed footage is driven by budget constraints and Road Agent estimates. The Board approved modifying the RFP to include estimated linear footage for paving.
Under items for signing, the Board signed general-fund and planning accounts payable (including asbestos abatement fees), payroll manifests, a private road waiver for Map 410 Lot 46, and timber intent and tax warrants for Map 203 Lot 2 and related parcels. Ms. Delaney reported a final draft construction contract with New Age Homes LLC for the police building project; the Board authorized Ms. Haight to sign the construction agreement subject to review against insurance and legal counsel recommendations. Ms. Delaney also shared an updated quote from Quality Insulation; the Board approved an agreement for the recommended insulation work.
The Board approved forms A5 and A5W for Map 410-15 and 226-14 and signed the private road waiver referenced above. Ms. Haight also moved to approve the April 20, 2026 meeting minutes as amended to include Mr. Meredith as an attendee.
Other administrative notes: Ms. Delaney mentioned that if the police building project comes in under budget the Board may reduce the bond size or retain savings in the capital reserve fund for future building expenses; the Board did not take immediate action on bond sizing during this meeting.
