Mount Rainier council adopts Arab American Heritage Month resolution, re-reads Pride resolution and previews Jewish American Heritage Month

Councilmember Joseph offered small editorial notes and the administration said it would correct them prior to finalizing the document; the council then approved the resolution by unanimous consent.
Earlier in the meeting Valerie also read Resolution 11-2020, the city’s prior resolution designating June as LGBTQ Pride Month and directing the rainbow flag be flown at City Hall each June; the reading was framed as a reaffirmation of the city’s long-standing support for LGBTQ residents.
The council also held a first reading of a draft resolution to proclaim May as Jewish American Heritage Month; members flagged grammatical edits and agreed to return that item for a subsequent vote after revisions.
