Miss Lewis told the board the proposed budget is essentially the same as the prior year until county, state and federal allocations are finalized. She said capital funding begins the year with a recurring $312,000 allotment for repair-and-renovation projects.
During the budget-amendment discussion staff explained they recently received hurricane relief funds with some recapture requirements, an SRO-related safety grant that was administratively moved to a state bureau, and small NCVPS reductions. Finance staff reported an unexpected receipt of $175,000 that helped offset some prior shortfalls: "we got a 175,000 today that we were not expecting that," a finance speaker said.
The board approved the 2025–26 proposed budget by voice vote and later approved the amendment, both by unanimous 7–0 votes. The actions included direction to staff to continue monitoring state and federal allocations and report financial impacts to the board.
