Smyth County School Board approves retirements, resignations, transfers and new hires
Summary

On motion by Dr. Paul Grinstead, seconded by Sue Tilson, the board approved the retirement of Lisa Thomas (Oak Point Elementary School teacher) and accepted resignations from Dana Boardwine (Oak Point Elementary School teacher), Sarah McIntyre (Marion Senior High School teacher) and Ruth Pruitt (Rich Valley Elementary School bus driver). The board approved the transfer of Tonya Neese from Sugar Grove Elementary School to Atkins Elementary School.
The board also approved a slate of new hires and appointments: Anna Blackburn (Chilhowie Elementary custodian); Katie Jo Blevins (Chilhowie Elementary assistant principal); Alana Buchanan (Oak Point instructional aide); Nikki Freeman (Chilhowie Elementary teacher); Leslie Frye (Chilhowie Middle School teacher); Kimberly Gibson (Oak Point instructional aide); Kali Hale (assistant principal at Oak Point and Marion Elementary); Katelyn Jones (Sugar Grove Elementary teacher); Dawn Morley (Marion Elementary teacher); Allyson Puckett (Rich Valley Elementary teacher); Daelyn (Jade) Rasnake (Oak Point instructional aide); Chris Stover (Chilhowie Elementary instructional aide); Katherine Wells (Marion Senior High administrative assistant); Candice West (Oak Point librarian); Tommy Burkett (Marion Senior High assistant soccer coach); Connor Hollen (Marion Senior High athletic trainer); Luke Armstrong (district substitute bus driver); Alishia Fuller (Marion Middle School teacher); and Amanda Shupe (district substitute teacher).
The minutes record the approvals as a single motion and vote (moved by Dr. Grinstead, seconded by Mrs. Tilson), carried unanimously (7-0).
