Tunica adopts revised water and sewer tariff, approves meter replacements and mapping

The Tunica Board of Aldermen on March 3 adopted a revised water-and-sewer tariff and approved several operational steps intended to modernize utility billing and asset management.
The Board approved an ordinance updating the Town—s water and sewer tariff (Appendix D). Separately, the Board authorized a purchase order for Delta Drip, LLC to replace meter registers on 72 meters at $25 per meter to ensure new registers and numbering are properly integrated for meter reading and billing. The minutes state Delta Drip has a certified water operator and experience performing the work.
The Board also approved contracting GIS/mapping services to begin mapping the Town—s water and sewer infrastructure, with a purchase order cap of $4,000. The mapping work will be a start toward comprehensive system maps; staff will make a later presentation to demonstrate the mapping results.
Because rates for customers located more than one mile outside the Town could differ, the Board authorized filing a petition with the Mississippi Public Service Commission to seek rate adjustments for those outside-Town customers to match the adopted outside-Town rate. Mayor Andrew T. Dulaney and Town Clerk Kathryn C. Pennock were authorized to sign and file the petition and supporting documents.
The minutes also note that water-billing adjustments are not yet ready and will be considered at the March 17, 2026 meeting.
Next steps: Delta Drip will proceed with meter-register replacements; staff will proceed with initial GIS mapping; the petition to the Mississippi Public Service Commission will be prepared and filed by authorized Town officials.
