Tunica aldermen hold executive session on potential budget cuts; confirm tourism CEO and approve $13,752 invoice

The Tunica Mayor and Board of Aldermen met on Feb. 17 and voted to hold an executive session to discuss potential budget cuts that could impact employment. The board conducted a closed determination and then entered executive session; the meeting minutes state that the executive session was held and that no action was taken during it.
Following the executive session, the Board returned to open session and the mayor announced that no action had been taken. In open session the board unanimously adopted a resolution confirming and ratifying the service of Webster Franklin as President and CEO of the Tunica County Tourism Commission.
The board also approved payment of a Sunbelt invoice for $13,752.00 and authorized Mayor Andrew Dulaney and Town Clerk Kathryn C. Pennock to take such action as needed to pay the invoice. The motion to approve payment was made by Alderman Lee B. Turner and seconded by Alderman Adam Fullilove; the motion passed by unanimous affirmative vote of aldermen present.
Other items recorded in the minutes included a brief discussion of a lift station project (no action), consideration of a possible sale of firearms seized by the police department (no action), and updates from Tunica Main Street including cancellation of the Wild Game Cookoff and a planned Mah-jong fundraiser. The meeting adjourned following the board’s actions.
