Tunica board hears Entergy on LED streetlights; water projects and grant bids discussed

Entergy representative Mr. Johnston explained that LED fixtures would be brighter, use less energy and be more reliable than the town's current streetlights, though the company said the conversion would not produce significant immediate cost savings. Mayor Andrew T. Dulaney reported that 72 new water meters provided under warranty are due to arrive that week and will be installed when received and weather permits. The Board also noted that plans and specifications for a water line replacement project have been submitted to the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) and advertising for bids will begin after MSDH approval. Separately, bids are being solicited for a Delta Catalyst Grant project to upgrade town lift stations; the Board will consider those bids at a future meeting.
