Mayor LeBlanc presented a proclamation recognizing Historic Preservation Month and encouraged residents and homeowners to engage with local preservation resources.
LeBlanc said preservation links residents to shared history and identity and noted he began his career with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He highlighted that Herndon contains more than 200 historic resources and invited the public to a rehabilitation tax credit workshop on May 14 and to a staff table at Frying Pan Park on May 2.
Planner Angelina Jones added that Carolyn Zemeneyen from the Virginia Department of Historic Resources will lead the May 14 workshop, which will cover program basics, the application process and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation; staff said the session will be filmed and made available online.
The mayor and board then posed for a photograph in the chamber.
