“The project at 5th and 49 South is going to be starting up very rapidly,” a staff member said, reporting that the county held a reconstruction meeting last week and that the contractor will close the road and work to reconfigure the intersection. Staff said storm‑sewer work will be concentrated on the eastern end and that the county has coordinated with Rocky Mountain Power for utility relocations.
Staff instructed contractors to notify residents as required by the traffic control plan, to deploy message boards and to contact local media and the county’s public information officer for social‑media posts. The group discussed presenting a single concise start date for public messaging rather than listing multiple staged start dates across a three‑week window.
County staff estimated closures will be limited in duration and said they expected much of the work to be complete by October, although final timing depends on construction progress and remaining project items. No formal vote was taken; staff said they will publish notices to affected neighborhoods and prepare traffic‑control measures before work begins.
