A Kaiser traffic study was cited during discussion; Speaker 2 noted that Kaiser estimated a 60% reduction in congestion for a roundabout. Speaker 1 agreed both options were prepared by the consultant and said staff would obtain detailed cost and right-of-way information. He asked for permission to survey the intersection and to secure a cost analysis and said Kaiser would be asked to present the findings at a future meeting.
The board approved the request to fund survey and preliminary cost work (not to advertise for construction bids). Staff said the cost analysis would inform whether to advance either alternative to bid documents.
