Lancaster Select Board accepts 2025 tax rate, adopts credit-card policy and formalizes Causeway Street mapping

The Lancaster Select Board on Nov. 17 accepted the 2025 municipal tax rate as presented by the Department of Revenue Administration and adopted several administrative policies and mapping clarifications.
Town Manager Jessica Cyr asked the board to accept the preliminary tax rate provided by the Department of Revenue Administration. The board approved a total tax effort of $21.07 per $1,000, with the municipal portion $8.24, county $3.00, local education $8.69 and state education $1.14. Selectman Leon Rideout moved to accept the rate and Selectman Kathy-Jean Lavoie seconded; the motion carried with all in favor.
The board also adopted a revision to the town's credit-card policy that adds a weekly requirement to submit receipts to the town manager. The change was added at the board's request during policy review; Lavoie moved to adopt the policy effective Jan. 1, 2026, Rideout seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
On an item related to local mapping for emergency services, the board voted to accept the path of Causeway Street as shown by current GPS mapping for E911 numbering. Selectman Leon Rideout described the historical route and the GPS behavior; the board voted to accept the path as presented.
Earlier in the meeting the board reviewed and voted to accept minutes from the Oct. 28, 2025 budget work session and the Nov. 3, 2025 work session, regular meeting and non-public session. All minutes-related motions were moved and seconded as recorded and carried.
The actions taken Wednesday set the town's official tax rate for the coming year, put the updated credit-card procedures into effect on Jan. 1, and finalized a mapping decision to support E911 numbering. The board adjourned at 7:19 p.m.
