Jonathan (committee member) updated the committee on Hoover Ridge work, reporting that hockey courts and a new playground are in place and that the splash pad is funded and scheduled pending a power drop and grading. He said paving and lighting remain to be completed and estimated the splash pad would open after Memorial Day next year.
Jonathan also noted there are roughly 38 acres of county property near the site that will not have their current lease renewed and suggested the Board of Supervisors could issue an RFP for farming or consider other uses such as an amphitheater, community center or additional recreational amenities. He recommended updating the park master plan—citing a prior Virginia Tech landscape proposal—and emphasized signage and parking improvements to support future development.
The committee asked staff to bring a steering‑committee recommendation and to coordinate with recreational program leads on tournament scheduling and lodging needs to support events.
