Committee lists multi-year facilities priorities and to vet Bound App for extracurricular communications

The Hope-Page Public School District 85 Extracurricular Committee on Jan. 30 added a set of prioritized facility upgrades to the district facility plan and agreed to further evaluate a communications app to streamline schedules and stakeholder messages.

Heidi Kingston, committee member, said she will add specific facility items to the facility plan for the finance committee to review. The prioritized items and tentative timelines listed at the meeting include bleachers in Page (3–5 years), a crow's nest (1 year), a softball shed (5 years), a softball dugout (this year), baseball bleachers (this year), a baseball net (1–3 years), gym wall pads for Hope/Page (5 years) and new scoreboards (5 years).

Committee members discussed calendar coordination across the COOP (cooperative agreement partners) to ensure equitable scheduling for music contests, concerts and parent-teacher conferences. The athletic director will discuss music contest dates with the music department and work with COOP partners to set dates and expectations that avoid conflicts for student-athletes.

The committee also discussed communications platforms to centralize notices for stakeholders, coaches and student-athletes. Brandon Benth and district administration will continue looking into the Bound App as a possible solution; no procurement or contract decision was made at the meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 8:00 AM. The facility items were recorded as priorities to be added to the finance-committee review; cost estimates and timelines beyond the general ranges were not provided at the meeting.
