Hillsboro commissioners approve bills, payroll and two public-works truck purchases

Commission President Levi Reese opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. and the board took a single motion to pay invoices that included a $39,600 payment to the Hillsboro Fire Department. Commissioner Pohlkamp moved to pay the bills and payroll; Commissioner Myers seconded and the motion carried with all five commissioners voting yes.
Later in the meeting public works supervisors described a planned water shutoff to repair a leak on Caledonia Avenue and told commissioners they had located two used plow trucks. Commissioner Myers moved to approve purchase of a 2014 International; Commissioner Pohlkamp seconded and the motion carried by unanimous roll call. Commissioner Pohlkamp then moved to approve purchase of a 2010 Freightliner for up to $40,000; Commissioner Evans seconded and that motion also passed unanimously.
The meeting record did not include a final purchase price for the 2014 International. Staff had earlier indicated two available trucks would each be “about $40,000,” but the approval language for the International did not specify an amount.
The board concluded other routine business and adjourned at 7:29 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 16, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Main Community Center.
