Dunmore honors firefighters after dramatic Drinker Street rescue

DUNMORE — Dunmore Borough Council on Aug. 12 recognized firefighters who rescued a person from a second-floor window during a July 29 structure fire at 760 East Drinker Street.
Fire Chief DeNaples told the council Station Six crews found a two-story mixed-use building with a victim hanging from a second-floor window on the parking-lot side. "Two firefighters extended a ground ladder and made the rescue. The victim was brought down with next to no injuries and was treated by EMS on the scene and was released there shortly thereafter," Chief DeNaples said.
Chief DeNaples credited Lieutenant Kyle Stanton, Firefighter Larry Waters, Firefighter Amanda Piere and Firefighter Maurice Menichetti, and also thanked on-duty police officers, the Scranton Fire Department and Pennsylvania Ambulance EMS for mutual aid and station backfill. "This is a true tribute to having a paid Fire Department staff by well trained professionals at the ready," he said.
Council members and the mayor praised the department's response and extended personal thanks. The mayor and council described the rescue as evidence of strong emergency coordination and civilian safety outcomes.
