Barrington honored with ISAWWA Gold Water Ambassador Award for third straight year

The Village of Barrington was recognized at its July 13 board meeting with the Illinois Section — American Water Works Association’s (ISAWWA) Gold Water Ambassador Award for the third consecutive year.
Brett Fritzler, representing the ISAWWA, presented the award and said the Gold designation is based on the frequency and methods a community uses to communicate about its water services. “This year, the village of Barrington and for its 3rd year, is one of only 36 communities throughout the state to receive the gold level water ambassador award,” Fritzler said.
Fritzler described the Water Ambassador program as a communications platform providing materials for consumer education and public engagement. He said participating communities use materials—such as bill inserts, newsletters and community events—available through the ISAWWA website to improve public understanding of safe and sustainable water systems. “The Illinois section of the American Water Works Association provides resources for education, safe and sustainable water,” Fritzler said.
President Moran and trustees thanked public works staff for the work that earned the recognition. The board’s remarks credited multiple departments for supporting outreach and operational reliability that contributed to the award.
The award highlights the village’s continuing public-education efforts about drinking water; ISAWWA officials said the program aims to standardize and elevate community communications about water systems.
