David Stromberg, town zoning administrator, said the change responds to applicant requests and staffing realities for self‑storage and similar industrial uses, where a two‑bedroom caretaker unit is often desirable. He explained the amendment remains accessory to larger projects (e.g., 60,000–150,000 square feet) and the 1,500‑square‑foot cap would apply in that context.
Faheem Narab, representing the applicant, told commissioners the revision offers a practical approach to help facilities provide on‑site housing that is market‑feasible for staff. The Commission voted to forward the amendment to Town Council with a favorable recommendation (6 yes, 1 absent).
