Rothschild approves purchase of Creske parcel and two-lot CSM to expand Cedar Creek recreation area

The Village of Rothschild Board on July 14 approved two land items involving property owned by the Creske family that the village says will support expansion and future development.
Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle told the board the Village agreed to purchase about 36 acres behind Wausau Tile from the Creske family for $10,800 (presented as $300 per acre under a 2024 agreement). VanDeWalle said the parcel will help grow the Cedar Creek Recreation Area, a several-hundred-acre initiative the Village has been working to improve for residents and visitors. Trustee Deb Ehster moved to approve the certified survey map (CSM) for the Creske 40-acre parcel; Trustee Sam Stroik seconded and the motion carried 6:0.
VanDeWalle also presented a two-lot CSM for Creske-owned land along Stoney Rivers Drive that will split two larger parcels into one large and one smaller parcel. The CSM specifies ingress/egress and that the Village will allow and construct a curb cut off Stoney Rivers Drive for future development. The two parcels are priced at $250 each ($500 total); Trustee Ehster moved approval, Trustee Stroik seconded, and the motion carried 6:0.
Board discussion noted the Creske family’s ongoing role in local development. Both actions were approved without recorded dissent; the land will be processed by Village staff consistent with the approved CSMs and purchase terms.
