Board to keep mill levy flat and publish FY 2026–27 budget; district estimates roughly $300,000 more revenue

Petra Krautis (speaker 10), business services, briefed the board on mill-levy planning and recommended the district keep the mill rate flat for FY 2026–27 while publishing the budget and holding required hearings.
Krautis explained the difference between budgeted mills and final mills once county assessments are finalized each November, reviewed assessed valuations for different funds and said the district is proposing to keep the mill levy flat; because assessed valuations have increased, that will produce additional tax dollars. She estimated the district would realize roughly $300,000 more in general-fund tax dollars as a result of valuation changes.
Her formal recommendation asked the board to authorize publishing the FY 2026–27 budget and to hold the revenue-neutral and budget hearings between Aug. 20 and Sept. 20, 2026. The board approved the authorization to publicize the budget and directed staff to file necessary paperwork with the county as required.
Krautis noted the board will still complete a first read and final read of the budget in coming months and that the district must submit required materials to the county within a week of the meeting.
The motion to authorize publication passed by voice vote.
