Board approves rollout of Raptor visitor-management system to additional schools

The USD 443 Board approved expanding the Raptor visitor-management system to 12 additional schools.

Mr. Miller (speaker 11) introduced the request, saying the cost for the expansion is under the district's $20,000 threshold and that the pilot at two elementary schools produced positive feedback from staff and parents. He described how Raptor requires visitors to check in at the vestibule (often via an iPad), validates IDs against national registry checks, and allows staff to authorize entry; frequent visitors can use a QR-code option to avoid re-entering information each visit.

"So just out of transparency, the cost is actually under the $20,000 threshold, but this is for the additional 12 schools as opposed to the 2 schools that we currently have under our pilot system," Mr. Miller said. He added the system is intended to provide a safer environment by preventing unvetted visitors from entering school buildings.

Tracy (speaker 2) moved to approve the system expansion; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.

The board authorized staff to proceed with purchase and implementation steps for the Raptor rollout.
