Summary
The Beaverdam Board of Appeals unanimously approved an appeal by DAB KAR Group, LLC to reduce required parking-stall dimensions from 10 ft by 20 ft to 9 ft by 18 ft for an Old Hickory Golf Club expansion, after a public commenter said the change supports a new banquet hall and adds roughly 20% more spaces.

The Beaverdam Board of Appeals on Aug. 28, 2024, unanimously approved an appeal by DAB KAR Group, LLC to reduce the town's required parking-stall dimensions from 10 feet by 20 feet to 9 feet by 18 feet for a proposed expansion at W7596 State Rd. 33 (parcel 004-1114-0131-000).
The decision came after a public hearing during which Kelly Ogikallie spoke in support of the expansion. "Old Hickory is building a banquet hall without encroaching on the course and increasing the parking by twenty percent, including the necessary handicap stalls," Ogikallie said. The board did not record any opposing public comments in the transcript.
Why it matters: the appeal changes the dimensional standard for individual parking stalls on the site, allowing slightly narrower and shorter spaces that the applicant says will enable a roughly 20% increase in spaces to serve the new banquet hall while retaining required accessible stalls. The applicant listed on the record is DAB KAR Group, LLC, owners of Old Hickory Golf Club.
What the board did: Chairman Howard Bohl opened and closed the public hearing, and a motion to grant the appeal was moved by Sue Recheck and seconded by Alan Mannel. The motion carried unanimously with the four board members present voting in favor. The meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.; Secretary Aimee Mallon recorded the minutes.
Implementation notes: the transcript does not record a written condition or an updated site plan in the minutes; any changes to the site plan, permitting, or building permits would proceed through the town's usual land-use and permitting processes, overseen by Land Use Administrator Dan Prunuske, who was present at the meeting.
