The Town of Natick Board of Health received routine departmental updates and completed procedural votes at its May 11 meeting.
Staff reported that the 40th Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on May 2 sold 243 tickets; staff described the event as more complex than prior years and said they will hold an internal meeting to identify improvements. In environmental updates, staff said a variance request for live molluscan shellfish tanks from T‑Market has been postponed and that Environmental Health Agent Shannon Finnegan visited a wholesale molluscan shellfish cultivator to review live‑tank operations.
In public‑health items, the Health Department reported that influenza cases are slowing after a severe season for children; the department said nine children in Massachusetts died from influenza this year. Flu-clinic participation was down, and staff described collaboration with Natick Public Schools and Natick Public Health Nurse Heidi Harper to provide physical exams and follow-up care for underinsured students. The department also noted a Massachusetts Department of Public Health Zoom meeting about protecting public health during the FIFA events.
The board approved the April 6, 2026 meeting minutes by roll-call vote (Sangrey, yes; Delli Colli, yes; Breda, yes) and later voted to adjourn (Sangrey, yes; Delli Colli, yes; Breda, yes).
Next meetings were announced for June 8 and July 20, 2026 (both via Zoom).
