Hortonville Area School District Board President Robert VanDenElzen called the June 22 open session to order at 7:00 p.m. and the board quickly moved through routine business, approving vouchers, personnel items and student trip requests.
The board approved Regular Vouchers #61355–61454 (with specified voids) and ACH/employee reimbursement vouchers after roll call votes. Brett Eidahl moved to approve the regular vouchers and Jessica Hartjes seconded the motion; the board carried the motion. The minutes record no roll-call tallies except that Aaron Tomlinson abstained from the vote to approve the June 8 open-session minutes.
The board accepted a $23,641.64 donation from the Dr. Bret Claybaugh Memorial Fund to be used for improvement of the grass soccer field and recognized student performances at the state track meet, listing placements for multiple athletes.
Under the consent agenda the board approved second readings of student and staff handbooks and several Fox West Academy overnight trips; it recorded multiple resignations (Jennifer Cook, Melanie DeMenter, Kimberly Schoettler, Ben Schoenebeck, Emma Burchall, Sarah Awe and Danielle Obry) noted as having last days at the end of the 2025–2026 contract year. Staffing memos were approved naming hires for 2026–2027 including John Bergstreser and Brian Niemuth as HHS Technology Education teachers and other replacements as listed in the consent materials.
New business included approval of a DECA overnight trip to Madison (July 12–13, 2026) with district transportation. The board also approved announcements and its meeting schedule through September 2026. With no further business the board adjourned at 7:29 p.m.; the minutes were signed by Maureen Kolosso, District Administrative Assistant; Brett Eidahl is noted as Clerk.
What’s next: Most items approved under consent will take effect for the 2026–2027 school year as noted in the staffing memos and handbook updates.
