The Hazen City Commission on Wednesday approved pay application number 2 for Dakota Supply Group for the city’s meter replacement project in the amount of $215,207.10.
The engineer, who delivered the written engineer's report to the commission, identified the pay application as the sole action item in the report and outlined related construction activity, saying, “The written engineer's report was sent out. The only action item on the report is the estimate number 2 or pay application number 2 for Dakota Supply Group on the meter project amount of $215,207.10.”
Commissioners asked about associated paving work and meter scheduling during discussion. The engineer said construction at Expedition Estates is ongoing and that crews are scheduled to start asphalt next Monday if weather permits. He also said hydrocorp was expected to complete meter work and leave town by Thursday and that, as of that morning, about 50 residents had not yet scheduled meter installations.
A motion to approve the pay application was made by Folkerts and seconded by Stern. Chair called a roll call and Volkers, Stern and Hack were recorded as voting 'Aye.' The motion carried.
The commission also heard that a public meeting on sanitary sewer improvements will be held next Monday at 5:30 p.m. and that a bid opening for an associated project is scheduled for next Thursday at 2 p.m.
The commission did not set further conditions in the meeting; the pay application was approved as presented.
