Council authorized the mayor on June 22 to sign a resolution accepting the Independence 8th Avenue Northwest IPF Area Stormwater Improvements Project after receiving a letter from Crawford Engineering indicating that the work had been substantially completed. The acceptance triggers the city's 30‑day clock for retainage; the city normally holds back approximately $1,500 until the end of that period to resolve any outstanding objections, at which time the retainage would be reimbursed if there are no claims.
The council approved the acceptance on a roll call vote, 7-0. During the item the mayor also reported a staffing update related to a different agenda item: "IBF has currently hired 125 employees," he said. The acceptance is administrative and starts the retainage clock; any post-acceptance issues or claims would be handled through the city's standard contract closeout processes.
