The mayor emphasized that the city's action is simply to lend support to the application and does not commit the city to matching funds or tax increment financing: "We're not committing to anything in terms of of, matching or there there would be no matching. We're not committing to TIF, which is the only thing that we could possibly be we'd be paying for." Councilmembers asked about the hiring timeframe, but staff characterized the application as preliminary and said that specific hiring milestones were not yet provided.
The resolution passed on a roll call vote, 7-0. The authorization directs the mayor to sign the support letter so the company may proceed with its state grant application; the action does not obligate the city to provide funding or economic incentives unless a later, explicit council decision is made.
